[Eat] Shang Palace @ Shangri-la KL

A photo posted by @eugene_the_great on

I rarely go to extravagant restaurants like this, but once in awhile it's a nice indulgence. We requested and got a room, so we got to dine in a private room in a beautifully designed restaurant.
We were here for the dim sums.
The siu mai was awesome, with generous ingredients, prawns and most noticably a good sized scallop slice on top. Har kow was plump and filled with prawns.
The fried lo pak ko was just ok.
I loved the deep fried prawns wrapped with beancurd skin, It was wonderfully crunchy and generously filled with prawns.

The most decadent dish we had was the wat tan hor with cod fish slices.
They were very generous with the cod fish.
However the noodles and sauce was just ok.

Overall this is a nice classy restaurant and a great place for family gatherings with good food.

[Food] Ploy @ Work@Clearwater

Amazing Ploy Black Fried Rice! (RM30.50)

Wonderful dinner at Ploy. Their signature Ploy Black Fried Rice was awesome! Balanced and flavorful rice. Add on the egg and get a silky, gooey texture like creamy carbonara without the cream :)

Tempura was forgettable though. Below average I would say. Give this a miss.

Spaghetti Thai Anchovies (RM24.50)
Lovely spaghetti! Nice and flavorful. Not overpowering or cloying.

Durian Panacotta ( RM12.50)

Must try Durian Panacotta!!! Rich durian flavor balanced with the milky panacotta.

[Food] FIQS Gastronomy @ Subang Jaya

FIQS Gastronomy is a wonderful hidden little gem in the quiet neighborhood of SS19. The chef had worked previously for a Michelin 3-star restaurant and I must say the food certainly did not disappoint. Price is high but definitely worth it. Expect to pay around RM40~ per pax. Food is amazinggggggg. Highly recommended!

Simple and nice decor with a open kitchen concept. Love it!

Pillow soft gnocchi complimented perfectly by the crunchy strips of I dunno what.

Ravioli with a soupy cheese filling. An Italian xiao long pao!

Turkey ham & bacon sandwich. Wonderful smoky grilled taste served with a side of delicious fries.

[Food] Miam Miam @ 1Utama

An interesting restaurant with very interesting menu. The aglio olio with miso ( forget the name ) was amazing.
Spaghetti coated with a flavorful sauce with a distinct Japanese taste.

Aglio olio with miso! Forget the name

Some kinda egg souffle! Also forgot the name but it's definitely my first time seeing this. A wobbly eggy foam sits atop creamy rice. Didn't taste great to me, and is very cloying.

Egg souffle! Forget the name also

This Japanese curry rice was also nice, it was very rich and well covered with the sweet Jap curry sauce.
Some rice with Jap curry
Dessert seems to be their forte here. There are many interesting desserts to choose from. Green tea souffle had a very fragrant green tea aroma.
Green Tea Souffle!

Their famed French Toast. We had to wait quite some time for this. It was nice, the bread was soft inside and went well with the cream. I was kinda expecting ice cream here but it was cream instead. Not sure if this really deserved the fame and the wait. Don't get me wrong it is nice, just not as great as the hype.

Their famous French Toast.

[Food] Tokyo Kitchen @ One City

I visited the newly open One City recently. It looks promising. With a nice view ( kinda? housing view? ) and interesting open rooftop. Not many shops were opened yet, so I settled for Tokyo Kitchen.

The deco was nice but unfortunately not the same for the food. Looks like it was run only by foreign workers, the food was bad and not what I expected for the steep price. Salmon sushi tasted like it was from Jusco. I really hope this was because they have only recently opened. It would be a shame as there were interesting items on the menu but if the quality remains as this low level I doubt it would survive. Plenty of other Jap restaurants are also opening nearby and even one on the rooftop level which has prices lower than this.
